George Washington said it and look what happened to him. So why can’t I? The art of allowing GOD into our lives is more about how to keep the door open than our natural instinct to shut it. In other words, GOD’s always there knocking, it’s us who keeps the door shut and locked.

“I wonder what the world is going to bring me today?” George said every morning to himself growing up! Can you imagine what your life would be like if you awoke every morning and asked the same question to GOD? “I wonder what GOD is going to bring me today?”  He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them.  And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.  Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:2-4

Wonderland

Remember as a child, all we could do is wonder! Every moment, every second, we took everything in. The world was our oyster! Somewhere along the way, we lost it. We lost that wonderment of life. And in the process, shut the door on many blessings GOD has promised each of us. The Art of Allowing GOD in is in the ability to keep your door open to any and all possibilities GOD has for your life. How do we do that?

Listen with Clarity

The answers you are looking for are right around you all the time. They are in listening distance from you all day long. However, the drama, business of your life are drowning them out. Practice better listening skills with quiet time early in the morning. Ask GOD every morning to show you His presence in the small things during your day. The Art of Allowing GOD in is having a clear mind and heart. And that is accomplished by setting healthy boundaries in your life. Protecting your turf, your time your energy throughout the day. Setting healthy boundaries may require elimination of friends, hobbies and habits in your life. Is this important enough for you to do so? Protect your life and the door shall be open unto you.

Live with Simplicity

More is not better! Gluttony is a sin. The Art of Allowing GOD in is to get the stuff away from the door. You have piled up chaos, drama, things and business in the way of the door to your heart. Eliminate the clutter from your life and the door will always swing open letting GOD in.

Look with Expectancy

Over time we have come to a resting place, a complacent time in our lives. Maybe we’ve lost Hope in some way. Maybe we even have grown to expect nothing from ourselves or GOD for that matter? Maybe we just don’t want to be disappointed again? The Art of Allowing GOD in is expecting His presence in your life daily. Asking Him to be in your life daily is a form of expecting. “I wonder what GOD is going to bring me today?” Is expecting great things from Him. And when you do expect, things happen and the door to His blessings is open wide.

So tomorrow when you get up, sit in silence for a few and ask GOD out loud, “I wonder what GOD is going to bring me today?” Treat the day as a gift, a new toy given to you as if you were a child. Because you are, a child of GOD and He wants more more than anything for you to prop your door open allowing Him in daily!
